I won't say anything about the story itself as it would spoil quite a lot.įor those that want to watch or read it, you're not going to need to search much. Season 2 is pretty much worse in all regards except the animation and some of the action-bits (dat last episode). Be sure to watch the special that focuses on his origin story. This villain, named Nox, is without a doubt my favourite (cartoon) antagonist of the last couple of years. Expect your heartstrings to be tugged hard as some serious shit goes down. The second half deals with the major antagonist of the season. The first half of the season is mostly episodic based and centers around his travels across the land. The story of season 1 is pretty solid and centers around the Yugo, the main character, discovering who he is. It has everything required but it isn't exceptional. There's comedy, there's action and there's drama. While the story isn't bad, don't expect it to be like Avatar:TLA. The animation it self has two seasons and is mostly character-focused. From light and fluffy to grimdark as hell. There are a ton of comics each in vastly different art styles and tones. The english version was in beta last time I checked). Let's start with saying that there is more, much more, to Wakfu than just the cartoon. Oh man, I never would have figured this show would ever show up on GAF.

I'm hoping those here who have seen this series can participate in the discussion and add further insight. I've been so impressed by what I've seen I wanted to share and talk about it even though it's not something I really have access too. This series is not (legitimately) available in America and I'd wager is mostly unknown to people outside of France and Europe which is why I'm making this thread. It has Evangeline chasing a new character named Remington through a destroyed village trying (I think) to get Sadlygrove's demon-sward Rubilax back. However, it's in HD and over 9 minutes long. I've not seen this episode and unfortunately this clip is not subtitled. Remington from Season 2 episode, "Remington Smisse" One character is gone and another new one added due to some rather series altering events that occurred late in the previous season.Įva vs. The second season opening features the same theme song but now showing how the characters have changed (especially Evangelyne).

By this point the series, AKANMA Animation is flaunting their full talent in every respect. Here, the characters play Boufbowl, apparently a popular magical sport in the DOFUS universe. While a bit of a spoiler, I include this scene because it's just so mind-glowingly awesome. While the first two episodes certainly do a lot to introduce the viewer to the show's silky smooth animation, this episode starts to employ some additional effects and camera moves that show off the abundant creative talent of ANKAMA. Scenes from Episode 3 - "The Black Raven" There were so, so many terrible AMVs to wade through.ĭone in the style of a 2D platform game, this charming first season opening sequence typically ends with Yugo flying towards a different character featured in that particular episode. Finding these uncut clips (some with subtitles) was not easy. The series originally aired on France 3 but is going to start airing on the French version of Cartoon Network starting January 2013.Īll of the episodes were created in Adobe Flash by Anthony "Tot" Roux, character designer Xavier "Xa" Houssin and Kim "Tcho" Etinoff all of ANKAMA Animation with the exception of the episode "Rubilax" and the special "Noximilien" which were produced in Japan.Īlong with the main series there has also been a spin-off mini-series called "Mini-Wakfu" featuring a super-deformed style, collectable figurines and a manga adaption.įor those who haven't even heard or seen any of this series, the following video clips are available on YouTube and give a good taste of just how impressive a show this is. The last episode aired on March 3rd, 2012. It's possible (but not confirmed) that a third season could be coming.

There have been 52 episodes produced and three specials. The series is set 12 years after the game's story and inside the latter can be found numerous citations about the show. The series began airing in 2008 and was well into Season Two before the game on which it's based was released. This is an appreciation/information thread for the animated series WAKFU produced by the talented French animation studio ANKAMA Animation that is based on the MMORPG of the same name by ANKAMA Games released in 2012.
